The city ‘is located in the vicinity’ of the desert, but enjoys a mild climate all year round with the winter temperature that never drops below 15 degrees.

Things to see in San Diego are numerous and in this post I will try ‘to quote you the most’ interesting.

The city ‘and we’ immediately appeared quiet and well landscaped with large green spaces. Park your car and we began our exploration strolling along the seaport village: soothing and characteristic harbor area, with many local restaurants and shops. In this part of town ‘there were many people who dedicated themselves to the sport while a few were smokers, this reflects the lifestyle of Californians who care a lot about health and fitness.

Although ‘accounts million San Diego has been able to maintain a spirit of cities’ of the province, perhaps because ‘it and’ expanded horizontally creating many outlying areas. In the center, called Downtown, there are still some buildings that reflect the ocean, creating a beautiful landscape.

Our itinerary was then taken to the Old Town seemed a little “cities’ inner city ‘” where the language more’ spoken is Spanish and architecture of the old Mexican style houses gave the area a special charm … . from cities’ border.

Our day was complete without a visit to the island of Coronado reached via a toll bridge. In the south coast of the island is one of the most beaches ‘good of the U.S. while the other side you can’ enjoy the sunset and admire the modern skyscrapers of Downtown. For dinner we went to the Gaslamp Quarter Downtown precisely, along the “5th Avenue” where there are a myriad of bars and restaurants for every taste and budget ..
If you have any more day ‘available do not miss a walk in Balboa Park, visiting some of them are museums: Museum of Photographic Art (Museum of Photography), Model Railroad Museum (Museum Train) and the body more’ big the world: the Spreckels Organ. Very beautiful are the zoos completely free.

We spent our last day visiting the zoo (the world ‘largest and most famous of the world) and Sea World trainers where they performed in shows of seals and dolphins. Honestly, is Marta I, we much preferred San Diego to Los Angeles for the city ‘and for parks, people, atmosphere and beaches.

Perhaps the most ‘distant destination that we visited, Rarotonga has lost the charm of the island, mainly because’ positioned in the middle of ‘the Pacific Ocean. This island, and ‘part of the archipelago of the Cook Islands: 15 beautiful tropical islands are characterized by crystal clear water, white beaches and lush tropical vegetation.

After 7 hours of flight (from New Zealand) is not too quiet, punctuated by the rhythmic tossing typical when flying over the ‘Ocean, we arrived in Rarotonga. To welcome addition to residents who intovano traditional songs, there was a tropical storm … I remember it was raining so ‘so that the wiper of the old furfgoncino that took us to the hotel, were not fast enough to remove the huge quantity’ d ‘water that is poured in the glass with a crash. Just saw the windows fogged tropical plants that were bent to the strong wind at that time, Martha and I looked at … did not need words to understand that we thought the same thing, but where the hell we are finished?

Our stay in Rarotonga and ‘was characterized by a rainy climate, but we did not discourage some, indeed, we rented a scooter to get the opportunity’ to explore the whole island in freedom ‘. Rarotonga has only one road that runs along the entire circumference of the island (about 45 minutes) and allows you to easily and quickly reach all the beaches.

To avoid bad weather, the locals have taught us a trick: If it rains in the north of the island does not rain in the south and vice versa and I must say that for 80% of cases and ‘was really so’. When we could not escape the adversity ‘forecasts, equipped with mask and snorkel for snorkeling although we spent out of the water, we really wanted a physical beast to resist the cold strong wind.

One of the things that struck us most ‘of the island and’ marine life, diving in crystal clear waters of the lagoon and Titikaveka Walls and ‘very exciting for many types of tropical fish that inhabit these waters.

Very beautiful, ‘was also the Cross-Island Track: a trail that crosses the island. We have completely flip-flops in the path, exemplified by the fact that the island there are no poisonous insects or animals, but mainly because they improvised. The contact with nature that I have had and ‘was unique and incomparable. Along the way, the large leaves of tropical forest I caressed her legs and feet, the sense of freedom ‘that I felt on top of the mountain watching the scenery and’ was really thrilling. As I watched the sea, the sound of the waterfalls of pure water gushed that they were many, indeed, are the most ‘beautiful music I had ever asoltato: “the sound of freedom” (the sound of freedom).

USEFUL INFORMATION

- The Cook Islands are not exactly a haven for backpackers: there are many ways to eat cheap, supermarkets are quite expensive and offer limited choices.

- We stayed at the Hillside Backpacker: booking it online, the cost of a room with private bathroom and kitchen was NZ $ 50. (About 30 Euro).

- I would recommend hiring a scooter – NZ $ 90 (55 euros) for a week. To guide you will need to obtain a driver’s license of the Cook Islands, easily obtainable in the only police station on the island.

- If you want to entrust to public transport, every hour, there are two buses that travel throughout the island in opposite directions, at a price of 2.5 Euros per trip.

- Souvenir: natural pearls are famous Manihiki.

- Connect to the Internet is still a luxury 6NZ $ (3.5 million) for 20 minutes.

- Before you embark on your flight back ready to shell out $ 55NZ: fees paid to us tourists.

- The famous lagoon Aiutaki is a 50 minute flight from Rarotonga, the airline operating this route is the Air Rarotonga. The price of the flight is around $ 300-450NZ a / r but sometimes there are last-minute deals by booking directly on the day before.

For an introductory course in scuba diving there is no ‘best place in the world of the Great Barrier Reef, a natural wonder 2300 km long well, where over 1500 species of fish – not to mention the myriad of corals – populate these blue waters offering us visitors an unrivaled experience.

In the collective is expected to approach the sport a long preparation is necessary, but It is so ‘. To our amazement, we discovered that many operators in Cairns, offering excursions to the reef diver and snorkeler Australia, giving the opportunity ‘to experience the thrill of a dive for beginners to experience diving in this magical world with an “introductory dive” …. and we certainly could not lose this opportunity.

Amazingly it is not necessary just any kind of experience or evidence in the pool. In the short route between the port of Cairns and the reef, on board the boat, we have only made a keynote speech about 30 minutes. Nothing complicated, in summary we have given some basic instructions on how to adjust the water pressure in your ears as you descend, like putting the mask (wet it with saliva prevents the formation of fog) and taught the major signs of communication among divers as “okay” or “watch out for shark behind you” (or perhaps I hoped but I think it was just a joke ..). The time of the compilation of a medical questionnaire and a statement on the awareness of the risks from immersion (to which ‘the face of Martha and’ made gloomy and preoccupied) and in 60 minutes we reached the first destination of our snorkeling trip, in Saxon Reef.

A shift of 4 a qualified instructor led aspiring diver underwater for a ride. Waiting for our turn, we decided to break the seine with a little ‘snorkeling but shortly after we came back on board, was our moment. Cylinder and mask placed, along with another couple we were ready for immergergi but before he can go in depth ‘we needed to pass a test: should remove the mouthpiece underwater for 3 seconds without drowning … easy but anxiety sometimes prevails and the other couple decided to forgo it. So to braccietto with the instructor, one on each side, Marta and I were ready … even if the face of Martha was always more ‘worried. Finally breathed underwater for half of the cylinders, the adrenaline was sky high, my breathing was labored and without realizing we were at a depth ‘of 6-8 – m. Suddenly, however, ‘Marta attracts the attention of the instructor and slowly go up: it was taken off the mask’ cause blurred but the technique that we had explained to the board was not able to say .. full. But putting everything in place, a nice spit in the mask and a breath of Marta – who meanwhile had been drinking a bit ‘of water – without losing any more time the instructor took us to see up close the creatures of the sea bed: a deresa gigantic Tridacna, most great ‘one-meter, all types of fish, colorful coral and we even have a huge turtle swam over, incredible. After a few minutes I was in symbiosis with this new world, my breathing was back to normal and my eyes wide open absorbing everything ‘they could. Aime ‘our 20 minutes of immersion had flown away, but I still remember this beautiful heart.

Fortunately, our experience in the reef was not over yet, we still had 4 hours ahead of us to dedicate to snorkeling and many were our wonderful underwater encounters: the clown fish, parrot fish, manta rays, stars marie, clams, barracuda , a giant wrasse and an immensity ‘of corals and fish of all sizes and shapes were presented to us. Some peered timidly from corals, others roamed indifferent to us as a barrier to black tip shark, which fortunately did not see Martha, and other small creatures that, despite our size, fronteggiarci dared to defend their territory …. . too numerous to spell out the amazing gatherings of this world, but i assure you that it ‘was an experience without equal.

After a long pilgrimage to Australia we were tired of driving, for weeks we moved constantly driven by the desire to explore, to see and know, too many were the things to see along our journey traveling.

But it was a bit ‘we were hoping to find a place away from chaos, from the mass of backpackers, where relax for a few days there and the opportunity’ offered by the beautiful Rainbow Beach.

Rainbow Beach (literally “Rainbow Beach”) and ‘s so called for its riot of color that fades from the cliff from yellow to green with white stripes and red, the sea that varies from blue to blue intensity. In Queensland, Australia’s East Coast – approx 260 km north of Brisbane and 76 km east of Gympie – Rainbow Beach and ‘proved, fortunately for us, underestimated by tourism destination and a pleasant discovery.

A quiet coastal village of little more ‘than 1000 inhabitants, in the beautiful Cooloola Coast, Rainbow Beach and’ in fact, in our opinion one of the few destination, visited so far in Australia, which remained untouched, and ‘won a place in our top 10 of places to visit in Australia. It ‘s true, many backpackers make a stop at Rainbow but only to embark on tours to Fraser Island, given the accessibility to the famous island of sand in some parts of the coasts and’ just 800 meters away.

The atmosphere in the town and ‘relaxed, and the people’ as usual friendly and “easy”.

For sleeping we were lucky enough to find a “room” low cost with a view of the sea: the beautiful campsite Inskip Peninsula where we parked our van right by the ocean for only $ 5.15 dollars each! He and ‘revealed the best “hotel” of our trip gave us a chance’ also enjoy all the amenities that our van was equipped (having finally time to install them): veranda, table and chairs, barbeque, campfire lighting and battery, the luxuries that we rarely granted.

But ‘this time we had to sweat a little’ to settle down for the night. And ‘some’ cause with a setting like ‘we have not satisfied the many vacancies on the pine. We could not reject the reckless challenge of reaching those in the front row, with sea view, reserved for 4X4. Aime ‘our van, heavy, rear-wheel drive, and did not want it covered up’. Armed with a lot of goodwill and helped by a series of expletives, that in these moments I come aime ‘spontaneous, I managed to free him thus achieving’ one of the most ‘beautiful campsite pitches.

Here the van settled, there remained nothing but relax. The days passed quickly through this paradise in long beach walks, fishing from the shore (with little luck), watching the dolphins in the nearby Tin Can Bay and watching the incredible view from Charles Sandblow. When we felt more ‘explorers we entered the park trail in the Cooloola Great Sandy National Park, even though we had to give up because most of the trails are accessible only by jeep.

Rainbow beach

Tips:

closely to see the dolphins at Tin Can Bay to the port you need to be for breakfast at 8 o’clock;
and ‘important to get permission from the camp before parking their van, available from the QPWS office located in the city’ or Epa.qld.gov.au site:
If you want to explore the interior of the park and Cooloola ‘indispensable a vehicle with four wheel drive (you can rent in town’) because the park roads are unpaved and sandy. Here the map of the park and the various paths;
here is the map in the PDF version of camping on Inskip Peninsula.
part of the beach at Rainbow and ‘off-road ride and only if equipped with a special permit costing $ 15 per day or if you pay online and $ 10, take care,’ to not drive too close to water that would otherwise see can ‘happen ..

Despite the chill of recent days the Carnival of Venice continues to attract millions of visitors. This Sunday, 23 thousand well were those with her nose ‘to admire the famous “Flight” from the bell tower in Piazza San Marco.

Hard to tell in a few lines that only the magic of Venice Carnival can give. Even I try, what you can say ‘to find out for yourself! It ‘s not too late to go “mask” in the city’ of channels, and with some changes even Venice can ‘be visited low-cost airlines.

Here are 10 tips to spend less without sacrificing anything in Venice:

- Stay cheap: in Venice there are only charming and luxury hotels but also hostels, bed & breakfasts and apartments. “Poking” in the network and moving to the island of Giudecca, for example, you can still find rooms around 80-90 euros per night. Too many? Then try to Mestre is only 10 minutes by train from Venice and offers many more ‘low-cost solutions. Even more ‘cost would be camping in the area of Marghera, Lido and some of which offer mobile homes or bungalows lascarli but I’ll say for the summer;-).

- All in masks! To save money, boicotate private parties and masked balls will save at least 250-340 euros each, not counting the rental of costume and mask … ouch.
To enjoy the carnival just immerse yourself in the streets and dive into the heart of the party in the “crowd” of Piazza San Marco in this period becomes a big stage. Attempt to photograph the mask more ‘beautiful earth will’ definitely busy for hours and, getting involved from the atmosphere, there will be enough ‘is a simple trick on her face painted (cost: 10 euros). At this link the full program of carnival this year.

- The gondola! You are in Venice for the first time and want to “take away the itch,” a romantic ride in a gondola? Eye on the price “official” and ‘of 80euro for 40 minutes with a surplus of 20 euros after 19.00. Low-cost option would be to “addescare” some other tourists to share the ride (the gondola up to 6 persons) or opt for a “mini gondola ride” just 50 cents! I’m not kidding, this is a gondola-ferry ago by shuttling between one side and the other of the Grand Canal. It will not be ‘a long ride, but memorable in its own way and you can always say I took a ride in a gondola in Venice!

- Get lost! Getting lost in Venice between the streets and squares and ‘experience even more magical’ evening when the streets are empty and Venice becomes totally surreal atmosphere, everything ‘you need only a pair of comfortable shoes .

- Sightseeing: if you want to enjoy a tour of the Grand Canal, so the more ‘simpler and more’ economic and ‘to take water. Line 1 (more ‘slow’) and the 2 channel meander on the most ‘famous Venice by offering striking views of some of the most’ beautiful buildings in the city.

However, the attractions of Venice are there for everyone without spending a penny, you can admire the famous Rialto Bridge, one of Sighs and the Basilica of San Marco stands impressively on the square.

If ricapiterete then to Venice in another time of year, between April and October, to avoid the long queues and ‘can restrict the entrance to the Basilica, for free, here. During this period, however remember that to enter and ‘necessary to arrive early and to supply a nice little’ patience.

For a glimpse of life in Venice, for the most ‘recommend a morning visit to the Rialto market, or soak up the unique atmosphere of the Venice ghetto. If then there is a ferry ride (6.50 euros valid for 60 minutes), stop off at Burano for a walk through its colorful houses.

- Venicecard: if you have more ‘for a weekend to spend in addition to the Carnival in Venice and want to indulge a bit’ of culture, then the VeniceCard could be for you. With 39.90 euros for 7 days gives you free entrance to the Palazzo Ducale and the 10 Civic Museums of Venice, as well as numerous churches. For this and info ‘links.

- Venice at 360 degrees, you can ‘climb the Campanile of San Marco Venice from 99mt to dominate in height, but, in addition to redoing the queue again if you’ve just been to the Basilica, you will also pay 8 euros. In front of San Marco, with 5 euros, you can climb the bell tower of San Giorgio Maggiore and enjoy an unusual view of Piazza San Marco and its famous bell tower.

- Hunting map: unlike other cities ‘of the world, visiting the tourist office inside the train station you will pay out 2.50 euros for a map of the city’. Moving instead to the nearby APT Piazzale Roma in Venice you will find the magazine a little “advertising” but where free inside and ‘also available map of the city.

- Cicheti as they could: that the Venetian tapas accompanied by a ‘”shadow de vin”! As a rule, if you want to be careful to avoid portfolio of restaurants around the main tourist attractions such as Piazzo San Marco.

The cheapest restaurants, norms of good practice in all the cities ‘, located in areas less traveled by tourists and close to universities’ frequented by students – penniless by definition. Then go back in the district of Hard to Bacaro “At Bottegon” (wine cellar already ‘Slaves) for the cicheti to 1 euro, or Campo Santa Margherita at’ “Osteria Ca ‘D’Oro – The Widow”. If you are near the Rialto Bridge, try “All’Arco” to the imaginative cicheti to 1.5 euros, or always a few steps from the famous fish market go to “First Fish” for a fast-food version of the Venetian.

Oh, and please, do not leave Venice without experiencing a “fritola” – pancakes – (1.10 euros each. About) those in Campo Santa Rosa Save Lucia, hidden behind Piazza San Marco, or pastry or even Tonolo to Dorso Duro pastry Rizzardini in the San Paolo. Do not be surprised if these places will be taken by storm.

Venice and ‘a unique city, even more’ during the Carnival, what are you waiting for, do not miss it!

We were very excited for the day that awaited us, aimed at exploring “the Great Barrie Reef”: the most ‘great barrier reef in the world and certainly one of the 7 wonders of the world today.

Consists of about 2900 reefs, more ‘than 1500 species of fish, 600 tropical islands, 300 different types of coral, well 2300km long, the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and’ the only living organism visible from space … awesome right? Wait until you see it …

Probably the best way to explore this underwater world and ‘diving right into it … not surprisingly the main activities are snorkeling and scuba diving, although there are also solutions for not “getting their feet wet” with boat trips on the reefs in semi -submersibles and scenic flights by helicopter.

We opted for the mask and suit and bought a tour from Cairns for a day trip in 2 “outer reef” for a period of 5 hours and with an introduction to free diving!

Our adventure and ‘started at 7:30 to check in for boarding at the port of Cairns. The ocean was quite rough and the boat rocked by accounting for the movement of waves. After traveling a few miles, the motion of the sea had already ‘claimed the first victim, which in turn getting up in the mouth with his hand on their way to the toilet, but fortunately we were already parties’ forearmed with our tablets for seasickness that we carried back from Thailand (experience shows;-)).

The time to reach the first target was flown from the excitement of exploring now this “wonderland” and dreamed so much anxiety in our first dive underwater. It ‘already’ cause no kind of experience and with only a few tips of the instructors during the trip, said that we were already ‘ready with incredible diving suit and cylinders. But not anything I’ll let you see this article.

Finished our introductory diving course we did not lose a moment and we snorkel and fins and slipped away again in water. Just below the water surface there was a new world that opened our eyes. Hard to put into words the emotions we felt.

With eyes wide open well we watched the host galaxy of teeming life of this ecosystem. The visibility ‘water was not at the top but in the end we managed to see a huge turtle, turning his head looked at us with his vivid eyes.

Turtle Reef

Excited by our first meeting we continued to explore for a while accompanied ‘by a large and colorful fish that Napoleon seemed to escort us to the coral formations where the water was shallow.

And it ‘right here in just a few feet of water we have more meetings’ overtime, leaving Slowly drifting with the current, passing through the coral gardens of every shape (although to tell the truth’ not as colorful as we expected) and shoals of colorful fish darting beside us still more indifferent to nibble the corals.

We were so engrossed that Martha had forgotten for a time even for lunch. Attracted by the sound of the whistle crew, we return to the ship for breakfast and to share for the second reef. Just enough time to recover a bit ‘of forces and we’re back to soak in the Hasting Reef.

We were so ‘taken in exploring these waters that Martha and I, without even realizing it, we are separated, each immersed in their own emotions and overwhelmed by this spectacle of nature. Again, who knows how long after the whistle calls us aboard the boat but this time to return to Cairns.

No words can ‘really make the idea of the experience and sensations we felt floating in this world or maybe with the rest of the world outside but I can tell you that just thinking about what’ we have seen is me goosebumps and can not wait to do it again …

If you ask me to describe the New Zealand way, I’d just see the designs date back to my childhood when I represented what for me was the earthly paradise. I began drawing the outlines of the mountains with sharp peaks and innevvate, from which I drew on a deep blue stream that grew steadily more ‘downstream resulting in a lake. The green was the predominant color with which coloravo trees and dense forests, finally drew the rainbow that could not miss. Well, I could not describe better than anything more ‘similar to the memory I have of New Zealand (including rainbow).

Our tour of the North Wellington then started visiting Lake Taupo, the Waikato River, Huka Falls until you come to Rotorua.

This city ‘lay south of the lake in the region called “Bay of Plenty.” Here the main attractions are the natural representations of the 1200 force that has shaped our planet: the activity ‘volcanic and geothermal.

It was a few kilometers from Rotorua when the air outside the passenger compartment of our car had taken the classic sulphurous smell that often accompanies volcanic phenomena … we were almost there. In the country, but while looking for parking, water vapor clouds obscured the view there (much more ‘dense fog of the famous Po Valley) came from the park “Kuirau” who was at the center of the city’. Parked the car, with our innate curiosity ‘were already’ ready for exploration. The entrance of the park seemed the secret door that we threw in a time past, far away, when the land was scourged by countless volcanic phenomena.

A bridge allowed to cross a river of boiling water, fumaroles were present everywhere and several were also “mud pools” that is’ the puddles of mud characterized by a very high temperature. The water vapor present everywhere in the form of hot clouds enveloped us with its warm embrace, and at times seemed to make us disappear.

After finding a cheap camp, the young Maori who worked them had suggested a walk on the shore of Lake Rotorua. The cold was biting and I remember doing that we were like “a walk, you want it.” During our “ride” in the vicinity ‘of the lake shore, we saw a river which emitted a huge amount’ of water vapor, which created a veritable “cloud” from which to our amazement popped a couple in swimsuit . As we approached we saw the local people who took advantage of the hot water to get free spa, surrounded by unspoilt nature … we could be left behind?

Another “highlight” of Rotorua and ‘thermal park “Wai-O-Tapu” where we had the chance’ to assist in natural shows of incomparable beauty. I remember the colorful lake called “champagne pool” of a white, red and dark blue and the “green lake” which takes its name from the stain of its sulphurous waters.

The “House of the Devil” ‘s so called because of its depth’ and the sinister aspect where water vapor was literally shot into the atmosphere.

The natural scenery of this park I was so impressed that even today the memory of this experience and vivid in me and hopefully it will not ever leave me.

Cosigli helpful:

New Zealand’s public libraries offer free Internet connections (perfect for us bloggers);
If you want to dive for free in the same waters that feed the baths of this area I recommend the brook near the entrance of the complex of “Wai-O-Tapu”;

also the park Kuirau and ‘completely free and although less spectacular spa park Wai-O-Tapu is worth a visit;

the entrance to the spa park “Wai-O-Tapu ‘and’ of 32.5 NZ dollars but worth them all, here is the official site: http://www.waiotapu.co.nz
