The small cold and Estonia, which came just in the Eurozone, is a country of which we know very little. Often we tend to think this was a territory of Russia, sparking the ire of those people who care a lot to its historical and cultural identity.

Since 1991, Estonia is an independent country, in the process of growth and with a great desire to show off. Moreover, this state is home to Skype and best tip his cards right in the computer field. Its inhabitants love computers and technology and for this reason, finding a free wireless network can be virtually anywhere.

For the uninitiated from April 2011, Estonia has magically become closer, in fact, the capital Tallinn can be reached with direct Ryanair flight to Bergamo (Orio al Serio) and the flight takes about three hours. The airport is fifteen minutes from downtown and you can get there by taxi or if you want to save money on bus number 2 (the stop is near the famous Hotel Viru) at the price of a normal race urbana.Per regard to the timezone, Estonia is ahead by one hour to Italy.

The capital Tallinn is a real historical gem and its ancient walls are among the best preserved in Europe. Walking the streets of the old town is like being catapulted into the Middle Ages thanks to the perfect state of preservation of buildings and beyond, throughout the year, young Estonians in historical clothes (even in the coldest of winter) to get into v’inviteranno local theme for which they work praising the qualities or proposing tasting local foods.

Among the most charming restaurants are the Olde Hansa and Peppersack (just behind the main square of Old Town, or the Town Hall Square) where you can enjoy the traditional flavors of Estonia in a charming historic setting: soft lighting, antique furniture, candles and waiters in period costumes. Among the typical foods include rye bread, soups, meat or fish, potatoes, roast pork and sausages, as well as various concoctions made from dairy products (which is impossible to know the translation of certain foods). For those who want to save money on meals, there is a wide choice, the city is full of fast-food restaurants, pizzerias (like the famous eatery “Vapiano”) and the self-service “Lido” located inside the mall Solaris. Here a few euros you can eat a good meal. Do not worry if you see the Estonians eat at times improbable because they are not traditionalists like us and eat only when hungry, without regard to the rite of our dining together at the same time. If you want to warm up you just need to drink a liqueur Vana Tallinn like beer or if you prefer, you can choose between Saku and Le Coq.

The venues for fun and there are almost all located in the center, like the Beer House, Molly Malone’s, the Nimeta (attended mainly by students) and many others. Among the clubs listed are the most central Hollywood, Café Amigo and the Cat’s House (both in the Hotel Viru) or private club. If you prefer the atmosphere of rock concerts you can enjoy the Rock Café, and for lovers of jazz and live music from the ’50s flavor is the pub / restaurant, Chicago. There are even the atmosphere reminiscent of the old Soviet times and if you want to relive them, you just need to enter the Valley Bar for afternoon tea and a sweet, typical (marzipan cakes are excellent), you can choose between Reval Café chain (old name of the city) around the city.

In Tallinn there are also cinemas and theaters, and the Estonians are big fans of art, then you can visit exhibitions of any kind, attend concerts of international music. If you seek relaxation, there is a wide choice of spa where you can take a healthy sauna.

As for the places not to miss, I recommend the entire Old Town, with its palaces, churches, city walls and the various viewpoints, the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the peripheral Kadriorg park (at the bottom of which there is a beautiful museum ‘ Kumu modern art).

Do not be afraid of the cold temperatures and the apparent coldness of the inhabitants, the Estonians, although shy and introverted, kind people and many are curious towards foreigners and after an initial moment of embarrassment will look forward to know everything about you . You just have to buy the ticket and see this little town overlooking the Baltic Sea (Helsinki and from which you can reach in no time thanks to direct ship).
